It’s not a Supra, but… When it debuted in 2007, is was suggested that the Toyota FT-HS (Future Toyota Hybrid Sport) might fill the void left by the iconic turbocharged sports coupe. Toyota, however, suggests that this is not the case, but rather that the FT-HS will create a new market segment for an “attainable exotic,” with prices slated to start around the mid-$30,000 range. The gorgeous 2+2’s high performance V6 is mated to the newest version of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive and hypothetically will produce around 400bhp, with a projected 0-60 time of around 4 seconds. Aesthetically, this car seems to borrow quite a bit from the Lexus LF-A, such as the elongated nose and angular body. The FT-HS will be revamped before the Tokyo Auto Show later this year, hopefully emerging shortly thereafter in 2010 as a production model.
